Structural design for earthquake loading, and rigorous supervision of reinforcement before it is covered, is the single most important safety decision on any building in this region.

Groundwater depletion around Kabul means water efficiency, sensible drainage and, where practical, retention are matters of long-term viability rather than gestures.

Designing for a changing climate

Temperature extremes, heavier rainfall events and dust all affect envelope, drainage and mechanical design. Building for the last thirty years is not the same as building for the next thirty.
